First, whether there is certification. Organic cotton is certified organic, while regular cotton is not, and this is the biggest difference between the two. At present, the mainstream certification methods on the market include GOTS certification logo or China Organic Product logo and organic code.

Two, the selection of different. Organic cotton must have non-GMO seeds, while pure cotton often uses GMO seeds to increase yield and reduce damage.

Three, planting method is not used. Organic cotton is planted in very high soil requirements, can not use pesticides and fertilizers; On conventional cotton, insecticides such as aldicarb, parathion and methamidophos are used. Picking organic cotton also requires manual operation to avoid fuel and oil pollution to the crop.

Four, the textile way is different. Organic cotton in the process of processing using biological enzymes, starch and other natural additives for degreasing and sizing, the use of natural plant dyes or through testing and certification of environmental dyes.

Some of the clothes have "100% Organic Cotton Made" printed on them, but they don't have the GOTS certification logo or the China Organic Product Logo and Organic code. This kind of product may be spun with organic cotton, but its fabric production, printing and dyeing, clothing processing, are still conventional products.

Is organic cotton expensive?
